Growing up I was the kid who excelled at things. I always got good grades in school. I was talented in gymnastics and spent most of my time training at the gym, winning multiple medals in competitions.
I learned to get attention and praise from achievement and being “a good girl”. Unfortunately I began to match my self worth to may achievement.
The downside of that is when I didn’t do well, I felt really bad about myself. I can still to this day have a tendency to beat myself up in my thoughts when things don’t work out like I expect them to.
Do you relate? Are you overly attached to the outcome of things? Do you feel bad about yourself when things don’t work out?
I heard a wise spiritual teacher say once that when you ask the universe for what you desire, it’s never going to look the way you think it will when it shows up.
It often won’t be in the timing you want either. Sometimes it could come faster than you expect, and sometimes it comes slower than you expect!
So how do you learn to be less attached to the outcome? It’s learning to let go and trust the universe.
Trust the universe’s timing.
Trust the universe’s wisdom.
Trust that when you stay true to yourself, your purpose and your heart’s desires (without doubt or wavering) the universe is working in your favor.
When you’re a type A personality like I am, (or in other words, tend to be more in your intellect / masculine energy) it’s really important to learn to TRUST and FLOW.
This might be a foreign concept for you, if you’ve lived your life pushing, striving and achieving.
The funny thing is, success will manifest for you more easily when you learn let go and trust the universe.
And it will be a heck of a lot more fun.
