If you’ve had a dear loved one pass over, you may have been wondering if he/she has become one of your guides. It’s a good question! The good news is, you CAN have a spiritual communication with loved ones who are no longer in the physical body.

Hi, this is Melissa with CommunicateWithAngels.com and I help spiritual seekers like you learn to communicate directly with your angels, find and live your unique life purpose. Today’s topic is a really good one because it’s a question that I get asked often and it may be a question that you have had too. And that is: Are my deceased loved ones part of my angel team, my spirit guides, my helpers? And the answer to the question basically is no. Your deceased loved ones are not your spiritual helpers. Now that isn’t as disappointing as it might sound so let me clarify what this is really about.
If you’ve had a close family member pass on, you may feel their energy around you. You may even hear messages from them or see images and have some kind of spiritual communication and that is fantastic. That’s amazing. I had that when my father passed away in 2006. Especially when he’d first passed over, I could hear his voice in my mind as clear as day as if he still had a body. Over time that gradually moved out however but I have a very close affinity with him. Even 12 years later after he’s passed on from the physical body, I still have a very close affinity with him as a soul, not just as a my father, but as a soul because we’ve been together in many, many lifetimes and past lives. So if you have a loved one that’s passed on and you feel that connection with them, know that it’s more of an affinity. It’s a closeness, a friendship of a soul that you have probably been with many, many times. So that relationship doesn’t just end when they leave the physical body. We miss them because we don’t have that opportunity to have that close communication anymore. We can’t just call them up on the phone because they’re not part of the physical but just because they don’t have a physical body anymore they are not dead and they still have a connection with you and they still can have an influence on your energy.
However, that soul, whether it be your grandmother, another family member, a close friend that’s passed on is not part of your guides or angels. It’s a different kind of a relationship. You actually created a contact with your angels or spirit guides before you were even born in this lifetime and you attracted a team who have strengths in the area that you’ve come to work on. Because they’ve been with you, even before you were born, they’re not people that you’ve known in this lifetime. People don’t pass on and then become your helper. They still can have a communication with you and an affinity with you but they’re not here to help and guide you because that person that you’ve known in this lifetime is probably on a journey to continue to grow themselves and honestly if you want to talk to them all the time, you could actually be holding them back because they need to move out with their angels, out to the universe, to go home, to regroup what they learned in their experience in that life and probably prepare for their next one. If you’re wanting them to be an angel on your shoulder and talk to them all the time, you can actually be pulling on their energy and holding them back.
The thing to do is to be detached, to be open, to know that no matter what you still have a connection with them even if they’re not close by and that’s definitely been the case with my relationship with my father. I don’t feel him around very often anymore. Every now and again he might come and check in and that’s amazing but I know that I will see him again in the future and we still have a connection even though we’re not able to talk everyday anymore.
I hope that makes sense. I hope that clarifies some confusion for you if you had that and know that there’s nothing wrong with that spiritual communication but they’re just not one of your helpers, okay? They’re not here to help you and help you in that same way.
